Overview
Program Overview
The PhD minor in Sociology provides students who are enrolled in a PhD program in another discipline with a broad knowledge of the theories, methods, and substantive areas of focus in sociology that can be usefully combined with their own disciplinary training to broaden the scope of their empirical inquiry into important social and policy issues.

Per policy (GAP 4.5.1 Doctoral Degrees, Requirements), all of the coursework for a Ph.D. minor must be completed at Stanford.

Upon completing the Sociology PhD minor, students will be able to use a range of sociological methods and theories to advance important policy and theoretical debates, and they will be equipped to include sociology research into the courses they teach.
