Ph.D. Minor in Art History
University requirements for the Ph.D. minor are described in the Graduate Degrees section of this Bulletin. Students pursuing a Ph.D. other than in Art History may apply for the Ph.D. Minor in Art History.
To request the Ph.D. minor in Art History:
Submit a University Application for Ph.D. Minor, outlining a program of study approved by the Ph.D. and Ph.D. minor departments, via Axess eForms. This form is submitted at the time of admission to candidacy or at the appropriate time thereafter. Approval from both the Ph.D. and Ph.D. minor programs is required for admission to the Ph.D. minor program.

External Credit Policies
Per policy (GAP 4.5.1 Doctoral Degrees, Requirements), all of the coursework for a Ph.D. minor must be completed at Stanford.

Program Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the Ph.D. Minor is to develop knowledge and skills in Art History that complement a Ph.D. student's primary field. This is achieved through completion of graduate-level coursework in Art History as well as inclusion of a faculty member from the Department of Art & Art History on the dissertation committee of any student with the Ph.D. minor.
