Course Description

This course will provide students with foundational skills in basic on-site case management, with a particular focus on benefits navigation. Through a combination of classroom instruction and service learning, students will develop an understanding of community-based social work services and their value in improving the lives of people experiencing homelessness and those experiencing material deprivation. The course will emphasize the importance of centering the lived experiences of this population, as well as strategies for connecting them with essential resources. The course will also seek to elucidate to students the barriers to housing and financial stability faced by low-income community members
