Course Description
Women of Color have always been at the forefront of movements for justice and yet their leadership, intellectual thought and praxis and is often ignored or devalued in the mainstream literature on social movements. In this class, we will center the voices, intellectual thought and experiences of women of color luminaries and organizers in the United States from the 1970's to the present. Every week, we will focus either on specific think pieces by women of color activists and thinkers or on a particular organizing campaign/collective led by women of color (including on Stanford University's campus) and attempt to draw connections to our own lives. Individuals both living and not living in Trancos are encouraged to take this course.
