Seminar examines Indigenous Feminisms and the impact of colonialism on gender roles & gender relations beginning with the 17th century to the present. Topics include demographic changes; social, political & economic transformations associated with biological & spiritual assaults; the dynamism & diversity of Indigenous societies. Sources include history, ethnography, biography, autobiography, the novel & film.
