Course Description
VISITING: Closed to visitors. TYPE OF CLERKSHIP: Selective 1. DESCRIPTION: Family medicine outpatient clinical experience, located in urban, suburban, or rural areas. The preceptor may be in private practice or in a health care center. Special opportunities may be available in urban underserved, in Indian Health Service settings, including in New Mexico, or in rural Humboldt County. The experience includes health supervision and primary medical care. It may include home visits, minor surgery, and obstetrics experience under the supervision of the preceptor. Team functioning is essential. Coordinating visits with other health professionals and to community resources are important parts of the clerkship. This clerkship requires prior approval by Clerkship Director. PREREQUISITES: Approval of coordinator and director 6 weeks before clerkship. PERIODS AVAILABLE: 1-12, full time for 2 weeks or 4 weeks, 10 students per period. CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR: Tamara Montacute, M.D., tamaram@stanford.edu.
