Course Description
VISITING: Open to visitors. TYPE OF CLERKSHIP: Elective. DESCRIPTION: The Anesthesia 300E clerkship exposes students to the fundamentals of anesthetic practice in a variety of clinical settings. Students will work one on one with private practitioners from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, as well as several outpatient surgery centers throughout the community. A wide variety of cases (including all specialties) will give students exposure to general and regional anesthetic techniques in both adult and pediatric patients. Personalized discussion on topics including applied physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology of the surgical patient will take place on a daily basis. Students will need to arrange transportation to the various workplaces. The clerkship is open to all students given prior approval by Dr. Kurt Fink. Please email requests to yuntao@stanford.edu. PREREQUISITES: A major clerkship in medicine or surgery is strongly recommended. PERIODS AVAILABLE: 1-12, full-time for 2 weeks. 1 student per period.
